Week Three with Rafferty!
Rafferty is getting fat! At the beginning of week two he weighed about ten pounds and he's probably getting close to eleven pounds by now. His neck is dissapearing and his cheeks are a growin'! We found out that he has acid reflux this week, so he was given medicine to help with the symptoms. He starting spitting up a lot and quite frequently this week along with some other symptoms, and when this began to happen, it reminded me of Tater Tot as a baby, so we went to the doctor. She diagnosed him with reflux, like Tatumn, but his symptoms are not nearly as severe as hers were. He seems to be doing better already though, or at least I think he is. I guess time will tell... He's still sleeping for the larger part of the day but when he's awake, he's definitely noticing much more of the world around him. He seems to love faces and contrasting colors (like most babies this age) and seemingly loves his mobile with it's movement and the music it plays when we wind it up. It keeps him mesmerized, that's for sure.
On another important note, the girls start school tomorrow! Wow! Please wish us luck, as we'll need it, I think! I hope to get pictures of everyone as the day begins, but will not be lucky enough to document the whole process for everyone because we have three going in all different directions and I can only take one to school. We've decided that I will take Imogen and Eric will take Tatumn and Hadley because of time constraints. So, we'll see how it goes. Soccer season also starts tomorrow! All I know is that it's gonna get might crazy around here for awhile!
Rafferty & me
Okay, so here I am with Rafferty this evening. Please cut me some slack as I have no makeup on and also ignore the deep, dark circles that outline my eyes these days. I thought it might be nice to post at least one picture with me and the little, or big fella, together before he grows up, so here it is. As you can see, he's in his moby wrap and generally loves it, once he's settled in, but mom has not gotten the complete hang of it yet, so sometimes he get's impatient with me. In this picture though, he's just fussy (probaby the reflux) and throwing himself backwards (common in reflux babies).

Rafferty's First Week
So, it's been a whirlwind of a week! Whew! Rafferty is a baby that does mainly three things. He eats A LOT, he sleeps A LOT, and there have been a few nights where he's cried A LOT! Actually, if he's not being nursed or sleeping, he's crying. You won't find him awake much and it's been hard to keep him up. But we've all enjoyed him immensely. So far, I think he looks most like me as a baby, but then again, I'm not sure. I don't think he looks much like Eric. He reminds me mostly of Hadley as a baby, I think. It's just so hard to tell, what with his jaundice tan and all of that hair! His jaundice is not as bad as I thought it might be and he didn't need the light blanket therapy. He lost quite a bit of weight the first couple of days and the doctor claimed it was a bit more than usual. Once my milk came in, he had no problems putting it right back on and weighed just a few ounces shy of what he did at birth on Friday. So all is great! I think we might be in for another loooong night as he has slept much of the day. Unfortunately, this typically means he ends up in bed with us most of the night, but that's after Eric takes him for a ride in the car! Funny, things we NEVER did with the girls, have gone out the window with our little guy. So it's been an interesting, yet exciting week, to say the least. I'll share more pictures as they come, but here are some from our first week with Rafferty!
