April Showers Bring May Flowers

The weather threatened to be nice today and for a moment it was. Oh well.

I love wind turbines.

Strange obsession of mine since I first laid eyes on them.  I love wind turbines.  I love that we get to see them if we travel far enough south and going to Purdue, we get to do this.  This time, I was able to get a picture of them as we were leaving town.  They're totally amazing.

Bug Bowl 2011

Me & my girls

Hadley with a face painting from one of Dr. York's students (one of my favorite professors).  He quickly pointed out his student's error.  This lady bug has too many legs.  Oops. :)

Imogen proudly showing off her face painting next to the sheep.

Imogen touching a common arthropod, a lobster

Tatumn holding her favorite bug, a millipede

Hadley or Imogen (not sure which) holding a tobacco horn worm. They're one of my favorites, too.

Goodbye, Bug Bowl! We hope to see you next year!

Oh, how I've missed this most special event! I love, love, love the Bug Bowl/Spring Fest at Purdue! I love it so much, that I had contemplated making a special trip from Florida to bring the kids in years past.  It's a great time with so many fun activities for adults and children.  Hadley got to fence and she's just been dying to do this for some time now.  She also milked a cow.  The girls held many types of bugs.  Hadley got picked to be a jockey for a roach race, Imogen ate cricket brownies, I entered a cricket spitting contest, and Tatumn had fun returning to all of the activities that once inspired her to grow up and become an entomologist and she still loves the sciences and I'm convinced the Bug Bowl is why.  So, so much fun.  The weather even ended up being so very gorgeous.  For as long as we can, and whenever we can, we will always come back to the Bug Bowl because the kids AND parents have a blast doing things they normally would not be able to do and inspires kids to take an active role in learning and maybe best of all is that it's cheap!

Bathtub Fun!

Okay, so I think we're up and running! I need to go back and try to repost the last post, but for now, I'll move forward and post some other stuff that I've been unable to these past few weeks.  Here's Rafferty with a new haircut.  I decided to get it cut because I took the scissors to his hair and it was becoming a hot mess with different lengths I had given it and he needed it cleaned up.  I think it makes him look so big.  He's looking a lot less babyish, isn't he?

A Day of Hiking

We dropped Tate off today in Indiana and then made our way to a place I remember visiting when I was little called Cowles Bog, which is on the Dunes Lakeshore. I decided to leave my camera in the car because it was a bit misty when we got there. The girls loved our hike and really loved the fact that we ended up on the beach at the halfway point, where we could see where we live from across the lake. Raf particularly loved running around on the beach and chasing the seagulls. When we got back to the car I snapped a few shots of the girls who were pretty tired out and ready for a bath. Really wish I had my camera for this good time but oh well. We certainly had fun!

Tatumn's First Formal

Tate's first formal. Our gorgeous girl went to her first formal dance this year. Crazy!
