Rafferty-4 Months

Oh, Rafferty! What a funny, little man you are! Let's see.... As of today, the big guy weighs just over 21lbs. Yes, you read right, he's 21lbs. and 27 inches long. He has such a personality now. He loves an unfamiliar face, that is, until you get real close. He could and probably will turn on you, the moment he realizes you might be a threat. Not sure, what kind of threat he imagines strangers/unfamiliar people being, but he makes it known that he is suddenly panicked/unhappy with your close proximity. The funny thing is, he draws you in with a great big smile and sometimes a laugh too but then suddenly flips out when you least expect it. It almost seems a wicked game.... He does it to relatives, friends, people at the store, etc. So maybe you're not a stranger per se, but if he doesn't see you EVERY day, he will probably engage in this type of behavior with you.

Now, at home, he's still mainly two personalities, as well, but not quite the same with his family. He CAN calm down now. It may not always happen, but lately he can be distracted from a grumpy moment. Prime example is this photo shoot. He was so tired and crabby but a few funny faces from mom and his frown was turned upside down! Also, he still sucks his thumb. Mainly just to get to sleep or calm down in the car and whatnot, so not often, but he still does it.. He has begun to get himself in places in ways I do not understand while in the crib or doing tummy time when I'm not looking. I often find him 90 to 180 degrees from where I originally put him. I suspect it's him using his feet to propel himself, or at least, that's what appears to be happening. I think I'll have to pull out the bumper for awhile for those few moments he's actually in his crib.

So, I'm sure there's more, but this is about all I had time for, as family duties are calling. Until next time.....
