Halloween 2009
So here we are, minus the Tater Tot. As mentioned previously, she refused to participate in any theme we were doing this year for Halloween. Can't blame her, can you? I was promised pictures from her friend's mom and hope to get some to post soon. She was Little Red Riding Hood. She decided early on that that's what she wanted to be.
As you can see, Eric and I are hot dog vendors, the girls are the condiments, and little Rafferty is the hot dog. Hadley, not too keen on being something not associated with a princess, reluctantly agreed to be ketchup, but only because it was a sort-of dress. Imogen wanted to be a hot dog as well, but since Hadley refused to be a hot dog (I tried to get them to both be hot dogs like the baby), she settled for mustard. She was happy with it once she tried it on and she HAD to be mustard because she actually likes mustard, while Hadley does not. As we made our way around the neighborhood and got so many compliments on our costumes, Hadley decided she loved all the praise and attention and felt it wasn't too bad not being a princess of some sort. It was a lot of fun and went very smoothly, despite the heat for the evening. We really thought Rafferty wouldn't be too cooperative due to his restrictive, hot costume, but he actually did rather well. When we tried the costume on him prior to Halloween he would get pretty irritated and HOT in it, not to mention that the day before he was to wear it, we tried it on to discover that he was nearly too big for it. We decided then that we should cut the bottom out so he could have more room and air, for his feet, at least. Apparently, it was enough to make it tolerable for about two hours, which ended up being perfect because that was about all the girls were good for, as well. Truly, it was pretty darn perfect and we look forward to next year, which may or may not be centered around a theme. At this point, I think I'm finally going to let the girls decide what they REALLY want to be rather than talking them into another one of my silly ideas. After all, they've been more than patient with me, right?
